Just finished the first week of the school year. We had an influx of kindergarteners this year. The last several years, my program was heavily weighted with older kids. This year, we're 40 percent brand spanking new kindergarteners. This is good, because hopefully they'll stay with us for a while, which will keep our numbers growing. The flip side is that kindergarteners don't know anything. When there's only a few Ks with a large group of older kids, they just sort of follow the crowd and figure it all out with a little help. However, when the number of Ks reaches a critical mass, chaos ensues. The older kids get frustrated because the Ks mess up all their games, break their puzzles, knock over the towers they build, ruin all of their lego creations, and don't understand how to play any of the games. Everything takes three times as long because the Ks need to learn it all for the first time.

While it hasn't happened yet, I'm pretty sure that if any of my kindergarteners hears about this 15 foot 2 inch tower built out of popsicle sticks, they will knock it down.
